The propaganda workshop of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is on overdrive. It has been so for the past few weeks and for worrying reasons.
The scandals and faux pas are just mounting, each requiring its set of interventions, unfortunately, none is effective in dousing the storms.
Their opposition days’ activities are haunting the party structure as Karma is dealing with them mercilessly.
From Sammy Gyamfi to Kofi Adams, they are paying dearly for their past iniquities. On the spotlight now are Kofi Adams and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, master of the game of deceit, his lying prowess unequalled by most of his colleagues in the propaganda works. He lied and continues to do so without looking back.
The lies he spewed when the NDC was in opposition are properly tucked in the vaults of the internet undisturbed. These are being brought out when necessary, in response to emerging developments occasioned by the many instances of bad governance.
Ghanaians are demanding of him accounts of the monies used for the evacuation of their compatriots from South Africa. It is a simple accounting task of listing out details of beneficiaries and how much each got. Such a simple arithmetical procedure, yet it is taking the whole NDC machinery to spew nonsense in response as they always do when cornered.
If there is no financial malfeasance somewhere, why would the Majority gird their loins to fight their Minority colleagues over such a simple procedure of retiring something like an imprest?
Won’t it be easier to have the accounting done than mounting such a cacophony of so-called defence of the Foreign Affairs Minister by the Majority?
Stating that no dime was lost does not answer the question. Their cause would be better served when they resort to the reconciliation of the public funds expended, period.
Former Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has also jumped into the fray, his version of defence rather watery and pedantic. His statement is so feeble that it shows how desperate the Foreign Affairs Minister is, as he calls his colleagues to his defence. Having a feel of how it is to be in the eye of the storm is good for those who depended on mischief and lies to bring down others. That is the face of Karma.
According to Nii Okoe Vanderpuije, Henry Nana Boakye, aka Nana B, is pressing for the reconciliation of the monies because Ablakwa declined to give him a Service Passport. What a silly statement to make as a defence!
Let us not reduce governance to such theatricals and be serious. The Ghanaian travel documents belong to the state and every citizen is entitled to acquiring them. They do not belong to the Foreign Affairs Minister who is only holding the position in trust for the people of Ghana, a transient position.
Information gathered indicate that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Second Vice Chairman lost his visa entries when he surrendered his Service Passport to the Ministry as demanded by the Minister when the NPP exited power. He is only demanding a replacement so he can have the visa entries entered. Is this an unusual request to warrant being put out as a defence for financial malfeasance against a Minister?
We shall hold the Foreign Affairs Minister’s feet to the fire of integrity in as much as he fails to do the reconciliation. The more he flees from the demand, the more we are convinced that a scandal lurks in there.
