Aboabo, a densely populated Muslim area in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region, is set to get its first community Senior High School (SHS).
Construction of the SHS commenced three months ago, and it’s expected to be completed next year.
A similar project is being executed at Adukrom Presbyterian also in the same municipality.
Alhaji Alidu Seidu, the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), made the announcement during an interview with DAILY GUIDE.
He disclosed that the construction of the two community schools at Aboabo and Adukrom are geared towards educating the youth.
Alidu Seidu also stated that the two community schools would help curb social vices among the Zongo youth.
“If the youth are properly educated, nobody can easily convince them to engage in violent and other illegal acts,” the MCE remarked.
Explaining further, he said “construction will end next year and first admission will be in September 2020.”
He said the non-existence of community SHSs at Aboabo and Adukrom has led to stubbornness and waywardness among the youth in the past.
Alidu Seidu said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration was constructing the SHSs due to the importance it attaches to education and development of Ghana’s human resources.
