Abronye DC Retains Position

KWAME BAFFOE, aka Abronye DC, was re-elected as the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Bono Region.

Though the voting process was characterised by misunderstanding between the regional election committee and officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) as to whether to allow some three constituencies to partake in the exercise, because they were purportedly served an injunction from the court, Abronye won with votes from nine constituencies.

Two hundred and sixty-three delegates from 12 constituencies were supposed to cast their votes, but delegates from Sunyani East, Jaman South and Dormaa Central were denied participation by officials of the EC.

Abronye beat his only challenger, Kolaanbig Rasheed, with 126 votes while the later had 80 votes.

Abronye’s First Vice Chairman, Joseph Mensah, also retained his seat by beating three others with 149 votes.

The Regional Secretary, Kofi Ofosu Boateng, also retained his position with 108 votes, beating two others to it.

The Regional Organiser went to Evans Afari Gyan Yeboah, who polled 115 votes.

Doris Asomah emerged the Regional Women’s Organiser with 142 votes as against Ama Amponsah who managed only 65 votes.

The Youth Organiser, Abdul Razack, was also retained with 130 votes, while the Treasurer went to Alhaji Issaka Issa, with 125 votes.

Alhaji Osman Faisal won the Nasara Coordinator position with 111 votes.
