Access Bank (Ghana) Plc has won two major awards at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, picking up Best Bank for Consumer Lending and Best Bank for SMEs.

The recognition forms part of 16 awards secured by the Access Bank Group across its African operations this year, highlighting the Group’s growing influence in retail and business banking on the continent.

Now in its fourth decade, the Euromoney Awards are considered one of banking’s most respected global benchmarks. They assess institutions on leadership, innovation, governance, customer outcomes, strategic execution and long-term value creation.

For Access Bank Ghana, the awards reflect its push to make credit more accessible to individuals and small businesses. Over the past year, the bank expanded its lending portfolio with products such as Pick Now Pay Later, Pay Day Loan, Retail Personal Loan, Fly Now Pay Later, Mortgage Facility, Auto Loan, and tailored SME financing solutions.

The bank said the goal is to respond to real-life needs, whether it is a young professional buying a first car, a family managing a life milestone, or an entrepreneur seeking capital to grow.

Beyond lending, Access Bank Ghana has also worked to strengthen its SME support system. It has partnered with the International Finance Corporation, DHL Group, Deloitte Ghana and Birmingham City University to provide businesses with advisory services, trade opportunities, capacity-building programmes and international networks.

The bank noted that access to finance alone is not enough, and that building competitive businesses requires knowledge, markets and mentorship.

Board Chair of Access Bank Ghana, Ms. Ama Bawuah, said the awards affirm the bank’s strategy of building a well-governed institution that creates sustainable value.

“These awards reflect our unwavering commitment to the customers and businesses we exist to serve,” she stated. “We are proud that this recognition affirms our strategic direction and our commitment to supporting Ghanaian families, entrepreneurs and businesses.”

Access Bank Ghana Managing Director, Pearl Nkrumah, said the recognition is a validation of the bank’s customer-first approach.

“Everything we do begins with our customers. Being recognized as Best Bank for Consumer Lending and Best Bank for SMEs reflects our determination to empower individuals, support businesses, and create opportunities for Ghana’s economic growth,” she said.

She also thanked customers, partners and staff for their role in the achievement.
