Accra Police Warns Criminals

The Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Iddi Seidu, has paid a courtesy call on Alhaji Imoro Baba Issah, the Ayawaso Wangara Chief, at his Palace in Nima, Accra.

With him were Director-General Operations DCOP/Mr. Mohammed Suraj, the Nima Divisional Police Commander, ACP/Mr. Abraham Acquaye and the Regional Public Relations Officer, DSP/Juliana Obeng.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, DCOP Seidu said the purpose of the meeting was to express the commitment of the command to ensuring improved security within all the Zongo communities in the metropolis.

He expressed worry over the increasing spate of indiscipline and disregard for traffic regulations by some youth of the area, touching also on the use of arms during Muslim events such as weddings and street fights.

Calling for collaboration between the Muslim leaders and the police in combating the lawlessness, DCOP Seidu said most of the weapons used by the youth were acquired illegally, which is a worry to the command.

He called for peace and urged the chiefs to assist the police fight indiscipline and insecurity in the area.

The Director-General in charge of Operations, DCOP Mohammed Suraj, in a remark said the police is determined to weed out the bad nuts who are not willing to change from their criminal ways from the community.

He said the command will not give room for consideration or familiarity to people found culpable since the law is no respecter of persons.

“The Police will apply all strength in ensuring that the region is free from crime and insecurity,” he added.

The Ayawaso Wangara Chief, Alhaji Imoro Baba Issah, expressed appreciation for the visit by the Police Commander and his entourage and pledged his support to the police in curbing crime in the area.
