The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has honoured six (6) retirees for their dedicated service.

Joseph Ansah, Apprah Sarpong, Mamah Husein, Elizabeth Bartier, Samuel Asare Yeboah and Felicia Nelson received deep freezers and double door refrigerators totaling GH¢15000.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey, who presented the items to the retirees at the RCC’s end of year get-together held at his residence in Accra, stressed the importance of public servants in economic development.

While calling for judicious management of resources, which according to him, underscores the critical role of public officials, he urged all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and their respective directors to take steps to block any possible leakages associated with revenue mobilization and financial usage.

“This is a good measure to put in place to enhance revenue mobilization efforts for rapid internal development agenda in your respective assemblies.

“Let us, as professional staff of the RCC, be guided by the ethics of the service knowing that our hallmark, like any government institution, is accountability, client focus, transparency and participation,” he stressed.

The Minister who lauded the Regional Security Council for, what he stated as, rapid response to security threats further urged them not to relent on their efforts in the coming year.

The Chief Director of RCC, Ernest Nyagbe, reiterated the need for the staff to exhibit a high level of commitment in the discharge of their duties.

In an earlier development, the Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey presented a number of items including alcoholic beverages to the Greater Accra House of Chiefs at a brief function at Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region.

He commended them for their efforts to put measures in place to reduce the number of chieftaincy disputes which had bedeviled the region.
