President of Kumawood association, Bill Asamoah has charged Ghanaian actors to champion the #OpenTheCinemas campaign on social media.
According to Bill Asamoah in an interview with Nana Ama McBrown, host of the United Showbiz program on Accra-based television station, there was the need for the actors to create awareness to the government by championing the #OpenOurCinemas campaign.
“I believe as actors we have the responsibility to champion the #OpenOurCinemas campaign to create awareness to the government. This will tell them how badly we want our cinemas open”, he said.
He added “I believe it’s a collective work for movie actors in the film industry to champion the course for our benefits devoid of any partisan politics”.
Ghanaian filmmakers including Yvonne Nelson, Kofi Asamoah, Peter Seduefie, have also called on the government to open the cinemas.
According to them, government must open the cinemas and force the operators to adhere to strict COVID protocols.
