The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has rallied financial support for the second edition of the Bukom Fist of Fury boxing event.

At its launch at the MJ Grand Hotel in Accra yesterday, Alhassan Yakubu-Tali, Deputy Managing Director, ADB, stated that his outfit’s decision to support the initiative was due to the huge potential boxing possesses to create jobs for the youth.

He mentioned that apart from football, boxing is the only sport that has brought more smiles on the faces of many Ghanaians and placed Ghana on the international stage.

“…Just like any other profession, the boxing profession also requires the appropriate training and discipline to become professional and win both local and international bouts. Thus, we are optimistic that this league will help unearth new talents.

“I am hopeful by the end of this boxing league; a new set of pro boxers would be discovered, and once again, Ghana will bounce back onto the international boxing stage,” the ADB deputy MD pointed out.

He commended the organisers of the event for not only focusing on the traditional boxing town of Bukom but extending its tentacles to other regions like Volta, Western, Central Northern, Upper East, Upper West and Ahafo.

This year’s edition is a three-tie competition comprising amateur, juvenile and professional championships and leagues.

And beginning January 31 at the Bukom Boxing Arena, the best form of boxing is expected.

The special guest of honour, Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru, urged the organisers of the event, Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and GABF to support the sport that has won Ghana 10 world titles.
