Emmanuel Adebayor
Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has denied making any negative comments about CAF and Liverpool duo of Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The former Tottenham Hotspur/ Manchester City forward has come under heavy criticism for labelling the continent’s football governing body as corrupt.
The ex-Arsenal man, a previous winner of the prestigious award, also in his comments, questioned why the winners should not be African-based players.
But the Club Olimpia striker has responded on his Twitter handle, saying, “My attention was recently drawn to comments shared by certain media on social networks, made on CAF and on my colleagues Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
“I would just say that these statements are not mine. I have not granted any media interviews. Always be careful not to post false information.”
The Liverpool men have been on the podium for the Africa Player of the Year Award for the past three years, with Salah winning the 2017 and 2018 editions while Mane won the latest one.
