The Adentan Municipal Assembly has adopted new strategies which would make the municipality a modern commercial enclave within Accra.
The Adentan Municipal Assembly Officer, Lillian Baeka announced this when she led a power point presentation of the Assembly’s Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) 2018-2021 at the Praise Sanctuary Chapel auditorium at Adentan on Tuesday. She added that the decision was informed by development priorities of the assembly.
In the light of the foregone, the assembly, she said, will pursue an integrated /mixed scenario by encouraging residents or investors to explore opportunities in agriculture, tourism and commercial ventures.
According to her, the Aviation land which covers a land area of 625 acres is expected to serve as a business and social service hub for first class commercial activity including Small Medium Enterprise (SME) and a medical facility.
“We are setting our house in order so that when the decongestion exercise begins in the Central business district in Accra, we will be in the position to plan for the spill off of traders who will relocate to Adentan” she indicated.
A Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP), according to her, is intended to sample public development preferences in the various sectors of governance.
The opinions are carefully compiled into a document and submitted to the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) for further review and approval of required budget allocation for implementation.
She was happy that work on a number of projects including the construction of the Municipal Court complex, the mushroom project and basic and SHS blocks is fast picking up at the various construction points and locations.
A representative of the Adentan Municipal Council of Zongo Chiefs expressed worry over the inability of the assembly to construct a hospital on 3.691 acres of land which has been left unattended for more than three decades.
He stressed the need for the assembly to go for the land before it turns out to be encroached.
