THE AFARI Military Hospital project, which is currently ongoing, is projected to be completed in December 2021, barring any last minute hitch.

Deputy Defense Minister, Kofi Amankwa-Manu, giving the assurance yesterday when he visited the project site, said the project is 92 per cent completed and the government is working hard to ensure works are done.

According to him, almost all the infrastructural works on the huge hospital have been completed already, adding that works were progressing steadily.

The Deputy Defense Minister, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency, was accompanied by officials of his ministry.

Mr. Amankwa-Manu’s inspection visit comes following wild reports on social media that the NPP government had abandoned the Afari Military Hospital project.

After thoroughly inspecting the project, the Deputy Defense Minister, who was accompanied by scores of journalists, said he was impressed with progress of work.

For instance, wild reports on social media that a new MRI machine for the hospital has been left in the open space at the mercy of the weather, proved to be false.

“The contractor has told me that the MRI machine, which some people are making hullabaloo about is currently in a bonded house at Tema,” the minister stated.

The deputy minister said the President Akufo-Addo’s government was determined to complete the hospital project to serve a useful purpose.

The contractor for the project, he said, has also assured that everything was on course as they were currently installing gadgets like air conditions in the facility.

On why the completion time of the project had delayed, he said the Ministry of Finance had to do value for money analysis on the project.

According to him, the NPP government had through proper negotiations, has been able to reduce the remaining project cost significantly and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) were working on new power lines to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
