Egypt beat Cameroon 3-1 on penalties to reach the Africa Cup of Nations final on Thursday after their last-four tie in Yaounde finished goalless at the end of extra time.

Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal saved two spot-kicks in the shoot-out before Cameroon’s Clinton Njie missed, sending the record seven-time African champions through to Sunday’s final.

Cameroon and Egypt went into a penalty shoot-out after they ended extra time 0-0 in their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final in Yaounde on Thursday.

Michael Ngadeu and Samuel Oum Gouet both hit the woodwork for the host nation at the Olembe Stadium, while Egypt skipper Mohamed Salah was denied by Andre Onana after finding himself through with just the goalkeeper to beat.

Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz was shown a red card as the match went into stoppage time.

Mohammed Salah’s Egypt will play Sadio Mane’s Senegal in Sunday’s AFCON final.
