AFCONS INFRASTRUCTURE Limited, contractors of the Tema-Akosombo railway network, has presented a number of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Lower Manya Krobo District Assembly to support the fight against the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the country.

The items include boxes of N95 respirators, goggles, face masks, hand gloves, hand sanitizers, shoe covers, and detergents.

Presenting the items, the Administrative Manager of AFCONS Infrastructure, Pramod Kumar, said the gesture was to help strengthen the Municipal Health Directorate to ensure safety of health workers and other frontline staff working to control the spread of the disease.

According to him, the items are also meant to assure the health workers and residents of the municipality of the commitment of AFCONS Infrastructure to support the delivery of quality healthcare in the area.

“This gesture by our outfit is to augment the efforts of the government and the Ghana Health Services in ensuring the protection of health workers, as well as the prevention of the transmission of the Covid-19 in the healthcare setting,” Mr. Kumar noted.

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Simon Kweku Tetteh, who received the items on behalf of the health directorate, commended AFCONS Construction for the gesture, indicating that the items had come at an opportune time.

He urged the people to continuously observe the preventive measures outlined by the government in order not to contract the virus.

The Medical Director of Saint Martin’s Hospital at Agormanya, Dr. Stephen Kusi, also expressed gratitude to the company for the gesture.

According to him, the PPE would serve as a great motivation to the health workers in the area to give off their best in dealing with the disease.
