Afriyie Ankrah Admits Blood Oath Swearing

Former NDC Director of Elections, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has stated that he devolved into the hubris of occultism to prove he carries out his work with utmost integrity in the interest of his party.

According to him, the blood oath to the party was arranged at his own request prior to the 2020 general election while he was the NDC’s Director of Elections.

Reacting to media reports and a viral social media video of him taking the blood oath with a sword in hand, the former Sports Minister stated that the incident has nothing to do with this year’s election.

Afriyie Ankrah indicated in a statement issued yesterday that, “For the records, the said ceremony was arranged at my own behest ahead of the general elections of 2020 when I was the Director of Elections of our party.”

“It is yet another example of how I took my role and how committed I was to ensure that we did our work with utmost integrity in the interest of our party and its members and supporters,” he justified.

He explained that the oath was taken only by him and had nothing to do with the party’s national executives or NDC officials in charge of the party’s preparation and administration of the upcoming 2024 general election.

The NDC’s top brass, led by former Director of Elections, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, swore that if they sell out the party for money in the upcoming elections, they will die with their firstborns.

“If I compromise and sell my party out for money for this coming election, may I die and my firstborn also die in my place (sic),” Afriyie Ankrah and his cohorts swore.

Everyone in the video took turns swearing the blood oath in a shrine-like setting. A man, who appears to be a cult grand master, dressed in white and carrying a cross around his neck, swore them to the blood.

In the video, the man placed a piece of fabric on the bare floor, asked for oil, and ordered that the NDC gurus step on it without their shoes while swearing the oath with a sword, which is like the mythical Excalibur sword borne by King Arthur.

Though Afriyie Ankrah urged NDC members and the general public to dismiss the video and assist the NDC in winning this year’s elections, there have been varied views on social media about what the party will do given the high stakes ahead of the December 7 polls.
