Rev Wengam presenting a gift to a pastor
The Executive Presbytery of Assemblies of God, (AG) Ghana has held two capacity building conferences for pastors and church leaders in The Gambia as part of a week-long apostolic visit to the country.
Led by General Superintendent, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, the delegation trained pastors affiliated to The Gambian Assemblies of God Mission in the first session.
The second was a non-denominational pastors and leaders conference that drew about 250 participants from across the Christian community in The Gambia, including missionaries from Assemblies of God USA.
Topics covered included Servant Leadership, the Power of Unity, the Essence of Audacious Faith in Achieving the Leader’s Vision, and the Role of Prayer in Transformational Leadership.
Facilitators were Rev. Wengam, Rev. Ernest Birikorang, General Secretary of Assemblies of God, Ghana, and Rev. Simon Abu Baba, General Treasurer.
In keeping with his tradition on apostolic visits, Rev. Wengam presented gifts to pastors and their wives who attended. The men received Ghanaian smocks, known as fugu, while the women received pieces of cloth. The items were sponsored by Rev. and Mrs. Wengam.
Rev. Paul Ampofo Williams, National Head of The Gambia Assemblies of God Mission and host of the conferences, described the impact as “unprecedented.”
“The conference and the gifts to the pastors and their wives have inspired and motivated them to do more for the expansion of the Kingdom of God,” he said.
The visit is the first by the entire Executive Presbytery of Assemblies of God, Ghana to its first mission field. The church in The Gambia was established about 30 years ago under the leadership of the late General Superintendent, Rev. Simon Asore.
Other members of the visiting delegation include Assistant General Superintendent Rev. Godwin Tito Agyei and Head of Operations, Rev. Dr. Freeman Osei-Tete.
