Agortime Kente Festival Kicks Off On Sunday

This year’s edition of the annual Agortime Kente Festival, which is celebrated by the chiefs and people of Agortime Traditional Area in the Volta Region, will kick off on Sunday, October 14 with a church service in some selected towns.

This year’s festival, which is expected to attract hundreds of tourists from across the world, is on the theme: ‘Attitudinal Change: The Panacea For Our Future Development’.

President Akufo-Addo has been invited to grace the grand durbar on Saturday October 20.

Also expected to be grace the occasion will be the current US ambassador to Ghana, ministers of state and a high-powered delegation from the diaspora.

Some of the activities lined up include musical concerts, a Miss Kente beauty contest, weaving competitions and food bazaar.

The chairperson for the 2018 festival planning committee, Eddie Akotey, assured the public that this year’s festival will come off without any hitches.

He, therefore, called on tourists, arts and culture enthusiasts and the general public to join them celebrate the rich Kpetoe heritage.

“Come and witness the beauty and richness of Agortime on display. You will see the best of Kente in the whole world during the festival,” Eddie Akotei added.

This year’s festival is being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
