There was a splendid display of military drills at the presidency yesterday when officers and men of the Air Force took over security at the Flagstaff House (FSH).
They took over from the Navy who had been keeping watch of the place for the past three months.
For close to 30 minutes, the Air Force and Navy officers excited the people who had gathered to observe proceedings, as they intermittently applauded and cheered the security officers.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his Vice Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, senior government officials, the top brass of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), pupils from selected schools and participants of the Spelling Bee Ghana, witnessed the change of guard.
The ceremonial parade is an old tradition inherited from the British during the period of colonialism.
The ceremony, a quarterly event, is similar to what pertains at the Buckingham Palace in London.
It was the third since President Akufo-Addo took over leadership of the country as the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.
