Viewers have criticised Ghanaian broadcast journalist, AJ Akuoko-Sarpong, for her ‘unprofessional’ and ‘biased’ conduct as the host of the inaugural Perfect Match Xtra (PMXtra) reunion held last Sunday at the TV3 premises in Accra.
PMXtra, an extension of the popular Date Rush show, is a 24/7 live adult content reality show that brought together five couples under one roof for nine weeks. The show featured recoupling and eviction strategies for contestants struggling to find love.
The reunion saw clashes among housemates with unresolved issues from their time in the reality house.
Tensions rose between the first evicted couple, Ali and Ruth, leading to a heated confrontation that almost turned physical after Ruth directed an inappropriate language towards her former partner.
The most talked-about moment of the night was the showdown between Brownie and the season’s winner, Grace, as well as Bibi and Ruth.
AJ disclosed that Brownie had allegedly cast curses on Bebelino, another cast member, after Grace was declared the winner of the season.
During the exchange, Brownie and Grace engaged in a verbal altercation while AJ, as the host, appeared to favor Grace and frequently interrupted Brownie during the heated exchange.
A video clip capturing the confrontation between Grace and Brownie, shared on TV3‘s Instagram page with the caption “Brownie Dey scatter everywhere,” prompted followers to accuse AJ of bias and unprofessionalism on the show.
Nana Akua Boatema wrote, “How can Bibi call Brownie ashawo on national television. Like how? And the host being a female didn’t ask Bibi to apologize.”
“AJ could have done better controlling Grace. Sometimes, you make us feel you love some of them more than others,” write mrfox.
Coco Eddie also wrote, “Eayaa for real is now Brownie Dey scatter everywhere meanwhile it was your victim former Grace that stood up first, always forming victim but can’t keep a relationship, first it as Djato that dumped her now is Beberlino . There is something off about her actually.”
Ani_blinks, “It’s so pathetic AJ is taking sides with the 3member group. It was so obvious. Three against one and you were only mentioning Brownie’s name. This wasn’t so nice of you AJ. Everyone could see BB’s reactions when Brownie was coming to sit but you all turned deaf ears to it and was against Brownie.”
