Sister Haniya, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, was deeply moved as she performed Umrah (Lesser Hall) for the first time in the Holy City of Mecca.
During her visit to Saudi Arabia to observe the holy month of Ramadan, Akuapem Poloo expressed her gratitude to the Islamic community for sponsoring her trip to partake in the Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca.
In a video shared on Hafiz TV, Khalifa Faith of Peace Dawah graciously guided Sister Haniya through the rituals of Umrah in Mecca.
“I am immensely thankful to Khalifah for leading me here to the Holy Kaaba. I completed seven rounds around the Kaaba. They have shown me love, encouragement, and care,” she expressed.
In an Instagram post featuring photos, the actress recounted a moment where she nearly injured herself while attempting to touch and kiss the Kaaba during her Umrah journey in Mecca.
“I almost injured myself just touching the Kaaba. Yes, I touched it and kissed the Kaaba with determination, hard work, and by the grace of Allah. I am now the New Hajia in town (Hajia Haniya),” she wrote.
Her post garnered numerous positive reactions on Instagram.
Osman Collection commented, “Very proud of you! Keep it up, love. Not everyone gets this opportunity. May Allah accept and guide you. Allah mentions in the Quran that when He bestows His blessings upon you, show it to the world. You are doing the right thing. Don’t pay attention to any negative comments; it’s normal to encounter negativity when you are blessed.”
Shuga added, “Congratulations to @akuapem_poloo. May Allah continue to bless you and accept our worship.”
Poloo, who converted from Christianity to Islam about a year ago, was first seen in striking images donning a headscarf that covered her entire body during her stay in the country.
Her journey to holy cities of Mecca and Medina was fueled by her desire to partake in the Islamic pilgrimage known as Umrah and observe Ramadan.
