The Northern Regional Communications Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended one Alhaji Ibrahim Kaleem believed to be affiliated to the Northern for Alan campaign team with immediate effect.

A statement signed by the Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mohammed Sheriff Ibrahim indicated that Alhaji Ibrahim Kaleem has been suspended for defying directives of the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mohammed Baantima Samba to members to desist from all media engagements to campaign for flagbearer hopefuls.

According to him, the suspended communication team member participated in a program designed for the purpose of advancing campaign of Alan John Kyerematen, a flagbearer hopeful on Radio Tamale , a Tamale based radio station.

“Jingles played, words used among others on the said program that brings the party and government functionaries into disrepute cannot be countenanced , especially from a member of the regional communications team. In view of the foregoing, any person who deals with Alhaji Ibrahim Kaleem as a member of the Northern Regional Communications Team does so at their own risk.”

The Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP, further stated that such activities by party members has the tendency to disrupt H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government and the peace within the New Patriotic Party in the region.

Meanwhile, the North for Alan in a press conference in Tamale registered its displeasure at what they describe as a selective application of party rules and sanctions.

It has therefore called on the regional and national leadership of the party to create a level playing field for all interested party members.

They accused some party executives and MPs in the Northern region for defying directives from the party adding that it will jeopardize the Party’s chances of uniting for victory ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

“Meanwhile, party members who also show support for Hon Alan Kyerematen are treated like criminals who have to be chased out of the party.”

Sayibu Gafaru, Secretary for the North for Alan group stated that the Alan group will vehemently resist all attempts to suppress, victimize and intimidate patriots who show support for Alan Kyerematen and warned that should other members of the party fail to obey the party’s directives on campaigning, the North for Alan will also start campaigning in the Northern region.
