All Set For MOFA AFCON Countdown

Moses Foh Amoaning

The AFCON season is here inexorably blending in with the chimes of the Yuletide, and Moses Foh Amoaning (MOFA) Productions is expected to hit big screens with the most enthralling countdown series to AFCON 2023.

The 30 minutes power-packed, 13 part documentary series on the history of 66 years of top flight African football, is expected to keep football fans glued to their sets with gripping archival footage, including the timeless ‘Mfum atete net’ in 1963 and the sublime skills of Polo and Razak in 1978 when the Black Stars won the first AFCON cup for keeps.

The usual lively segments like facts file, legends of the past, fan zone and 200 goals will be spiced up by the hypnotic appearance of highlife and hiplife icons like Pat Thomas, Amandzeba, Amakye Dede and Sarkodie in the ‘sportytainment’ segment.

In an exclusive chitchat with our Sports Desk, the legendary sports presenter, Lawyer Moses Foh Amoaning, who doubles as the host and executive producer/director of the series, confirmed that while programmes 1, 2 and 3 dealt with the 1957, 1959, 1962, 1963, and 1965 AFCON tournaments, episode 4 which airs on GTV Sports Plus tonight at 8pm will focus on the 1968 and 1970 editions dominated by the tactical brilliance of Ben Koffie and the sheer technical mastery of Joe Ghartey and the mercurial Sunday Ibrahim.

Watch out for a stimulating interview with Fred Pappoe on the fortunes of the Black Stars and do well to win great prizes from the programmes sponsors; Hisense, SHC and Kenpong Travel and Tours.
