AMG Introduces New Perspectives

Ernest Akwesi Appiah, Managing Director, AMG Limited

AGRICULTURAL MANUFACTURING Group (AMG) Limited, a leading indigenous producer and distributor of enhanced efficiency and advanced crop nutrition performance fertilizers, has indicated it is set to introduce new operational perspectives that are tailored to reflect excellent products and service delivery on all fronts.

The firm, which provides small scale/large scale farmers with a crop nutrition product/strategy that guarantees high yields through the adaptation of cost-effective crop nutrition varieties, specializes in the distribution of agrochemicals and farm tools across the country.

The Managing Director of AMG Limited, Ernest Akwesi Appiah, who disclosed this in an interview with DAILY GUIDE recently, said his outfit was working to inspire high farming yields in the country with its array of products for farmers. These include Cocoa Nti, a 100% cocoa fertilizer, enriched with plant nutrients capable of sustaining the lifespan of cocoa trees, producing high yield and productivity; N.P.K Glycine Mix, a nitrogen-laden product that induces high yield in pulses, soyabeans and peanuts; NPK 25-10-10+TE which offered high source of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium in cereal production and Risocorn, a foliar crop nutrition product designed for the production of rice, sorghum and corn.

Established in 2012, he said, AMG was already a conspicuous leader in the area of specialty fertilizers, adding that the brand had steadily grown to become a pacesetter in Ghana’s agricultural sector.

AMG also boasts of an expansive nationwide distribution network.

Commitment to Industry Growth

AMG is credited for supporting Agri-house Foundation to roll out a national subsistence farming enterprise, ‘1 household, 1 garden’ initiative, designed to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 on food accessibility.

The firm, which offered a piece of land and other agro input to help the project thrive, has indicated the initiative will drive a national home gardening agenda to help ensure a liberal supply of quality food to Ghanaians.

It will ensure the provision of staple vegetables like fresh lettuce, tomatoes, pepper, onions, beans, beetroots, cabbage, okra, carrot and cucumber, etc.

Additionally, AMG is also set to attract and involve more youth in the Planting for Food and Jobs programme under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture through a partnership with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. By this partnership, AMG will be working directly with the Ghana Agricultural Sector Investment Programme to provide inputs (seeds, fertilizers) to the youth, farmer groups and associations across selected agrarian regions for production.

Quality Delivery

According to Akwesi Appiah, the aim of AMG is to deepen the technical know-how of farmers in applying fertilizers to improve yields and boost food production.

This, he said, would strengthen the quality and depth of input supply and related services along the agricultural value chains, while increasing the productivity of Ghanaian farmers.

Currently, AMG is responsible for the direct employment of approximately 200 personnel and about 5,000 indirectly.

Plans for Continued Impact

In a bid to consolidate its grip on the local agric sector, AMG plans to create more specialized plant-nutrition solutions for farmers. This approach, along with the firm’s in-depth industry know-how, will help ensure the continued growth of the entire value chain.

Furthermore, AMG has channelled significant resources into the creation of 10 warehouses across the country to enhance product storage, thereby guarantying a seamless supply of products to farmers.

The firm also plans to significantly improve and provide a transportation system that will help to cart agricultural inputs across the country for easy accessibility.

Besides, it stated that it was working to construct a state-of-the-art Plant Prescription Unit, with an aim to support the production of tailor-made fertilizers to meet specific crop needs.
