A 23-YEAR-OLD suspected armed robber has been apprehended by the Tepa Divisional Police in the Ashanti Region for unlawful transfer of firearm and narcotic drugs.
He was reportedly arrested by a group in an alleged failed robbery attempt at Asuhyiae near Manfo under the Tepa Division.
He has been charged with Transfer of Firearm Without Authority, Robbery and Attempt to Commit Robbery to be arraigned before court.
The Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Stephen Kwakye narrated to DGN online that on July 1, 2021 at 9pm suspect John Fordjour aka Kwadwo Shadrack, aka Kwadwo Fordjour who was wanted in a case of robbery and attempt to commit robbery was arrested by group of people and handed over to the Manfo Police together with 13 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and 50 tablets of Dizepam in his possession without lawful authority.
Suspect confessed to police that he together with one remand prisoner, Akwasi John, and Deeni alias SM who is at large attacked and robbed a victim of his single barrel gun, mobile phones and other valuables.
Few days afterwards, he together with the same remand prisoner, Akwasi Broni and Shadrack all at large attacked another complainant Sulemana Mohammed at Kwaemu cottage near Asuhyiae with the said gun in the midnight and attempted to force his door open and rob him of his money and other valuables but the complainant in the process slashed his face with cutlass, sustaining wounds on his face and fired one warning shot and they escaped.
Meanwhile, 13 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 50 tablets of Dizepam have been retained for evidence as John Fordjour in police custody after he was remanded by Nkawie Circuit Court.
