Appiah Stadium Attacked

Police CID Conducting Investigation

The Police in Kumasi have launched investigations into the suspected attack on Frank Kwaku Appiah aka Appiah Stadium, a known serial caller of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and his family on Sunday.

Appiah Stadium claimed some unknown men allegedly attacked him, the wife and children in his house at Ahenema-Kokoben New Site which is on the outskirts of the city at about 12:30 am.

According to him, his black Toyota RAV 4 vehicle registered AS 2233-16 was set on fire by the assailants who also fired several gunshots to warn him.

However, the house was intact, but the ardent supporter of former President John Mahama insisted the unidentified gunmen poured petroleum product around the building in order to set it ablaze.

He accused activists of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of masterminding the attack, indicating that he had received several death threats after he insulted and described the sitting President as a chain smoker.

The NDC man, who has gain popularity due to his hurling of insults on President Akufo-Addo, stated that the assailants threw gallons containing petroleum product into the compound after they failed to scale the wall.

A team of police detectives from the Brofoyedru Police Station visited the scene to gather evidence which included about six bottles of colourless liquid believed to be petrol.

Two additional yellow gallons, popularly called ‘Kufuor gallons, which supposedly contained the petroleum product were reportedly placed at the main entrance of the building.

The NDC serial caller said his wife woke him up due to the incessant gunshots in the vicinity, but initially mistook them for fireworks, as the yuletide is approaching.

When the gunshots became sporadic, Appiah Stadium narrated that he looked through the window and saw three persons and a familiar vehicle in the area.

The wife of Appiah, Fosua also told the media that she raised an alarm due to necked flames on the compound of the house.

She said the family members poured washing powder into water and used it to quench the fire.

“We called the police, who informed personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), but the officers failed to turn up, Fosua indicated.

“I came out when I saw the fire, which was quickly extinguished. The situation could have been very serious as the family members were in the house,” said Appiah Stadium.
