Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says his side’s success is “only the beginning” after signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2030.
The Spaniard’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but an agreement was reached on improved terms earlier this month.
Arteta, who joined Arsenal in December 2019, could now spend a decade in charge of the Gunners. His new contract reportedly increases his annual salary from £10m to £15m, including bonuses.
“This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue,” Arteta said.
“We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.”
The 44-year-old has guided Arsenal to a Premier League title and an FA Cup during his tenure, while they also reached the Champions League final in May, where they lost to Paris St-Germain.
