Asantehene, Vodafone CEO Set Tone …For 60TH Golf Tourney

The 60th Asantehene Golf Championship is underway at the Royal Golf Course in Kumasi.

A colorful ceremony yesterday saw the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Chief Executive of Vodafone Ghana, Yolanda Cuba tee-off at an energetic and exciting pace.

The Asante King certainly looked the part and together with Vodafone’s Yolanda Cuba and two others, set a great tone for the professional and amateur golfers who were rearing to go at a full throttle.

The four-day tournament is a 72-hole event and begins with an invitational Professional – Amateur session that will bring selected 72 amateurs and professionals together over 18-holes. Over 300 golfers are expected to take part.

Interacting with the press after an impressive tee-off session, an elated Yolanda Cuba said: “We are certainly excited to come on board. Obviously it is an avenue to show to our clients that we care about the things they care about. Additionally, this provides us with a platform to continue showing our commitment to the Ashanti Region. Additionally, as a company with a principal focus on making sure no-one is left behind in the digitalization agenda in Ghana; we are ready to go above and beyond to make sure that happens.”

Other dignitaries at the teeing-off event were the Minister for Youth and Sports, Honourable Isaac Asiamah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Osei Asibey-Antwi, Chairman of Vodafone Ghana, Dr. Kobina Quansah and other Senior Management members of Vodafone.
