THE MUNICIPAL Chief Imam of Ashaiman, Sheikh Mustapha Harun Cisse, has asked Muslims in the country not to engage in violent conducts which might ruin the peace and stability of the country.

According to him, politicians might try to take advantage of them during this election year for their selfish interests. He therefore asked Muslims to resist influence from politicians and other external forces in order to uphold the peace that the Ashaiman municipality enjoyed in previous general elections.

Advising the entire youth in the country, he said they should refrain from all manner of violent acts which would affect the peace of the country and the credibility of the elections, adding that they should not succumb to politicians who would like to use them to achieve their ambitions.

Sheikh Cisse made the remarks immediately after the Eid-ul-Filtr prayers held at the Sakasaka Park, Ashaiman on Wednesday.

According to him, Ghana is bigger than any individual and so nothing should be done to disturb its peace and stability.

The Ashaiman Chief Imam further urged Ghanaians, especially Christians and Muslims, to co-exist peacefully and see one another as siblings.

For his part, Alhaji Labarran Yakubu Barry, the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ashaiman, also seized the opportunity to admonish his colleague Muslims to ensure that the Ramadan fasting they went through was not in vain by engaging in acts Allah disliked.

At Tema, the Metropolitan Imam of the area, Alhaji Adam Abubakar, prayed for peace to reign before, during and after this year’s elections.

According to him, political parties and the various political party supporters should ease tension as we are approaching the November 7 polls. He cautioned politicians to desist from any acts which would plunge the country into chaos.

He made these remarks during a prayer session to mark the end of the 30-day Ramadan fast at the Tema Sports Stadium.

In his closing remarks, he asked for blessings, peace, good health and long life from Allah for all Muslims nationwide as they celebrated Eid-ul- Fitr.

Addressing all Muslim youth after the prayer session, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, cautioned the youth to resist offers from politicians who intended to use them for their selfish interests in the forthcoming general election.

“When politicians come to the Zongo communities to lure you with money to act in their favour, tell them that your lives are paramount to you therefore they should ask members of their families to discharge the acts in their favour,” he advised.
