Aspiring NASPA Presidents Disqualified

 

ALL TWO Presidential aspirants of the National Service Personnel Association, Brong Ahafo (NASPA) were disqualified for forging signatures of delegates purported to have endorsed their forms to contest.

The disqualified candidates are Listowel Adu Sarkodie from Pru West District aspiring to become NASPA regional president and Hamad Mohammed from Wenchi.

A candidate for the Vice President position, Adjei Samuel, was also disqualified for the same offence.

At a regional delegate conference to elect regional executives, at the Sunyani Technical University Auditorium, there was no election for regional President.

The remaining positions contested for include the vice president, regional secretary, financial secretary, organizer and women commissioner.

At the end of polls 174 delegates comprising six each selected from 29 districts and municipalities from the former Brong Ahafo Region (Bono, Bono East and Ahafo) cast their votes to elect new executives to run the association.

After close of polls, Agyemang Silas Nana Kwesi was elected Vice President polling 102 votes while Kyeremeh Opong Simon won the regional NASPA Secretary with 78 votes beating his closest rival, Sampson who got 71 votes.

The organizer went to Sylvester Amedza with 94 votes, financial secretary, Roger Twum Gyarko, 65 votes and Lorreta Amponsah Adomah, 82 votes, women commissioner.

Chairman of the vetting committee, the district director of the National Service Scheme, Asamoah Stephen Owusu, explained that by the constitution of the association, the Vice President elect shall act as the President till nomination is open to call for new contestants.
