Assemblyman Was Killed For Resisting Robbers -Suspect

Suspect Vincent Dzotepe aka Adjei, 34, leader of the robbery gang that attacked and killed Mawutor Adzahli, the assemblyman of Sogakope in the Volta Region, has confessed that he stabbed the victim for putting up resistance during the robbery.

At a news conference, the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), DCOP Ken Yeboah, said Adjei told the police that one of his gang shot the assembly man and when the victim put up resistance, he also stabbed him.

He said five persons had since been arrested in connection with the case. He gave their names as Bright Awuya, 33; Franklin Tetteh, 22; Steve Anson;  Amos Agbaklah 25, and Vincent Dzotepe aka Adjei , 34.

Narrating how the suspects were arrested, the CID boss said on March 24, Amos Agbaklah was arrested at Sogakope on suspicion that he was a member of the gang that attacked, robbed and killed Mawutor.

He admitted his involvement in the commission of the crime and mentioned Awuya, Tetteh and Ansong as his accomplices.

He also mentioned their leader as Adjei who provided the weapons for the operation and two others he did not know.

DCOP Yeboah said Amos was the one who provided information as to where they met to strategize before they went for the robbery operation and the role each member played.

He said police in Ho arrested Vincent Dzotepe at Sogakope and handed him over to the CID for investigations.
