Assemblymen Hijack Social Media

An assemblyman aspirant on social media

IN RECENT times, there seems to be a mad rush for assemblyman seats in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is expected to organize the assemblyman polls across the country, this year. But even before the EC announces the details for the election, most of the aspirants have started their campaign.

These people, who are hankering to be elected as assemblymen in their respective electoral areas, are campaigning on social media. They have manufactured their campaign posters and they are spreading them on social media platforms, notably Facebook.

From the look of things, this social media campaign is bearing positive results for the aspirants. People have been passing comments and also giving suggestions to their favourite assemblyman aspirants on social media.

One of such aspirants is Kofi Asante, popularly known as Mmranteehene, who is ‘eyeing’ the Nsuase seat at Adum.

His campaign posters have been spreading fast like wildfire on social platforms, thereby boosting his ambition. Some people, who have voting rights at Nsuase, have lauded his social media campaign strategy and also assured him of their votes.
