Aviation Authority Honours CJ

Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has honoured Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo for contributing immensely to the development of the aviation sector of the country.

As chairperson of the Board of GCAA from 1989 to 2000, Her Ladyship Akuffo contributed to making Ghana the aviation hub in West Africa.

A plaque was presented to her during a ceremony to mark the 74th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Presenting the award, Minister of Aviation, Kofi Joseph Adda, said the aviation industry has seen positive transformation of the human resource base, with young people with big dreams willing to come on board and contribute their quota to the national development.

Mr. Adda said, “Your Ladyship it’s an honour to present to you this award for your hard work and dedication in aviation sector.”

In her acceptance speech, Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo, charged the management of the Authority to take steps to sustain development in the aviation sector of the country.

She also applauded the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority for making efforts to boost security in the sector and urged it to take advantage of opportunities.

Her Ladyship Chief Justice was hopeful the GCAA would consolidate its leadership position in the sub-region in the coming years.
