MCE Aminu addressing congregation
The Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly has begun the upcoming independence celebration with a special Muslim prayer to commit the affairs of the assembly and the country at large into Allah’s control.
The special prayer which was held after the Jumah (Friday) prayers at the Mamobi Central Mosque was attended by some community chiefs, administrative members of the assembly, community imams and other members of the public.
Whole pages of the holy Quran were recited as part of the ceremony after which various prayers were said to besiege Allah’s guidance and protection.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Assembly Aminu Zakari entreated residents of the assembly to, among other things, respect, tolerate and appreciate the views of one another in governing the assembly.
He stated that the strength of the assembly lies in the unity of the residents which would require that everyone’s view was taken on board so as to promote inclusiveness.
He also appealed to residents to desist from bad habits that had negatively affected the growth of the assembly.
He mentioned some of the things affecting the growth of the assembly as poor sanitation, indiscriminate blocking of roads, improper parental care and poor attitude to education.
The Chairman of the Ayawaso Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Baba Moro Issah, called on the chiefs within the assembly to rally around the MCE by giving him the necessary support to manage the assembly effectively.
Other activities to mark Independence Day celebration include a clean-up exercise on Saturday March 2, a Sunday church service on March 3 and a March Parade to climax the celebration on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
