Baby Thief Lynched

An unidentified young man who tried to steal a baby from its parents while they were asleep in Berekum-Abisase, a farming community in the Bono Region, has been lynched by community members.

The body of the young man has since been retrieved and deposited at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital for autopsy while the law enforcement agents at Berekum investigate the incident.

Assembly Member of Abisase-Tiwbaabi Electoral Area, Atta Jacob, confirmed the incident to the DAILY GUIDE on phone. He explained that the unknown young man sneaked into the bedroom of the family of the baby while they were asleep at about 2:30am last Tuesday and tried to take the baby out. But the father of the baby saw the action and raised alarm. Those who were awakened by the alarm gave the man a chase, and upon getting hold of him, lynched him before the police arrived at the scene to retrieve the body.

The assemblyman added that unit committee members from the community tried to rescue the young man believed to be in his twenties but to no avail. Though he was lynched at dawn police and environmental health officers came for the body in the evening of the same day.
