Baffour Gyan Spills Beans in Asamoah Gyan Divorce Saga

Asamoah Gyan and Baffour Gyan

Baffour Gyan, brother of former Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan, has shed more light on what led to his brother divorcing his wife, Gifty Gyan.

In an interview on Asempa FM, Baffour Gyan stated that, contrary to what had been published in the news, Asamoah Gyan was the winner in the case.

He explained that five years ago, Asamoah took his marriage to court because Gifty had been married before and still went ahead to marry him without his knowledge. When Asamoah found out, he took the matter to court for investigation, and it turned out that Gifty was married previously, their marriage should be annulled.

Baffour added that indeed the marriage had been annulled as reported. “So the ruling came today, and the court found out that indeed, Gifty had been married, and as per Ghana’s law, a woman cannot be married to two men at the same time. So the court annulled the marriage, stating that it doesn’t exist.”

On the issue of properties given to Gifty Gyan in the divorce settlement, Baffour revealed that all the said properties were already in Gifty’s name as they were hers in the first place.

“On the matter of the properties when Asamoah and Gifty were together, he bought Gifty and the kids a house in Spintex, so that house was already in Gifty’s name. Gifty also bought a plot of land in Tema to be used as a gas station, that piece of land was also in her name already. And then the Infiniti car,” he explained.

Based on the recent verdict, Gifty has been awarded GHC25,000 monthly stipend for the upkeep of the three kids, excluding their school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, among other child care costs.

She has also been given a BMW and Infiniti vehicle, a land used for a gas station, two houses, one in the United Kingdom and the other at Spintex.

Asamoah Gyan, on the other hand, has emerged victorious in the case, as his lawyers argued that Gifty’s failure to disclose her previous marriage was fraudulent.

Baffour Gyan explained that the news reports had been twisted to make it look like Asamoah Gyan had lost the case, but he was the winner all along.
