A baker who allegedly had anal sex with his employer’s granddaughter at Madina New Road in Accra has been remanded in custody by an Accra Circuit Court.
34-year-old Samuel Danso alias Kwaben is said to have subjected the victim to the ordeal on four occasions on the blind side of her grandmother.
The suspect committed the offence in July, 2018, when he was sent to wake the victim and her siblings up at dawn.
According to the police, Samuel Danso satisfied himself on the victim before waking the rest up to avoid being caught.
The victim, who initially kept the incident to herself, later told her elder sister about her ordeal and she also informed their grandmother.
The suspect was arraigned on one count of defilement of a child under the age of 16. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and the court presided over by Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded him to re-appear on September 24, 2018.
The prosecution led by ASP Agnes Boafo stated that the victim stays with her grandmother who is the employer of the suspect.
She told the court that the suspect usually wakes up all the children in the house at 4:30am every day.
ASP Boafo narrated that somewhere in July this year, the suspect went to the children’s room to wake them up and he had anal sex with the victim before he woke the rest up.
The prosecutor told the court that Samuel Danso repeated the act on four occasions. The victim kept her ordeal to herself until she finally mustered courage and told her elder sister about it. The elder sister also told their grandmother what the victim had told her.
She stated that while the family was deliberating on what Samuel Danso had done, the complainant who is a neighbour overheard the conversation and lodged a complaint at DOVVSU, Madina Police Station.
She added that the victim and her grandmother were invited to the police station and the suspect was later arrested for the offence.
