Alhaji Iddrisu Mahamoud Maydochi II
The Wenchi Banda Chief, Alhaji Iddrisu Mahamoud Maydochi II, has petitioned the National Security apparatus about the activities of the Heritage Council, which according to him could undermine security in the municipality.
In the petition, he appealed to the authorities to intervene in the affairs of the Wenchi Banda National Krubi festival in order to avoid any unforeseen disturbances.
He stated that a group of some Banda indigenes, domiciled in Accra called “Heritage Council is fomenting trouble in Wenchi and needs to be checked before things go out of control.”
The Wenchi Banda National Krubi festival has been celebrated over the years without any trouble, but this group is trying desperately to hijack the festival, the petition went on, adding that “not even the warnings given by the Queenmother of Wenchi, the MCE and the Bono Regional Police Commander could deter them from continuing with their activities.
“For now, my elders and myself have been able to advice the youth to avoid anything that they may do to disturb the peace but as to how long we can contain them is the matter.”
