FOUR SUSPECTS involved in the infamous Bantama rape saga have been jailed 36 months each, totalling 144 months.
The four juvenile suspects were sentenced by a Juvenile Court in Kumasi; they were found guilty of all charges levelled against them.
One of them was charged with aiding and abetting, whilst the remaining three were charged with conspiracy to engage in defilement.
Family members of the suspects, who were hoping for a soft sentence, were shocked. They cried bitterly on the court premises.
Another suspect in the case, an adult, had been jailed to seven years’ prison term few weeks ago by a Circuit Court in Kumasi.
The court was of the view that all the four suspects, one way or the other, contributed to the gang rape so they deserved the same sentence.
The four suspects were said to be shivering as the judge announced their sentences to them.
It would be recalled that five young boys, who are students, raped a teenage girl in a room at Bantama in Kumasi some months ago.
The said incident was recorded on video by the suspects, and the video went viral on social media.
In the video, the boys were seen laughing as they, in turns, bonked the young girl, who tried fruitlessly to prevent them from raping her.
