Bantamahene, known in private life as Sylvester Owusu, is calling for massive support for the Otumfuo anniversary special cup involving Asante Kotoko and Ivory Coast’s Asec Mimosas this Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The game forms part of activities commemorating Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s 20th milestone as Asantehene.
To the former Asante Kotoko CEO, Otumfuo’s achievements on all fronts during his 20-year reign as Asantehene call for a befitting anniversary cup match.
In order to show exemplary leadership, the Bantamahene has purchased GH¢5,000 worth of match tickets for fans who would want to pay respect to the Ashanti king by watching the game.
“Twenty years on the high profile throne marked with significant achievements is worth celebrating. Let’s troop to the Stadium on Sunday to make the special anniversary cup game a memorable one.
Otumfuo delegated me to host UN General Assembly president and his entourage recently, and they spoke highly of our great king, I keep saying he is God given,” he said in a media briefing yesterday.
The Bantamanhene has also called on corporate entities to follow his example by purchasing match tickets in large volumes and deliver it to radio stations for free distribution.
Officials of Primeval Media, organisers of the game, pledged the Bantamahene of a top-class organisation befitting Asantehene’s status.
MTN is the headline sponsor, with support from Ageiss, Royce Energy Drink and StarTimes.
