The Overlord of Gonja and President of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has conferred on the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the Konokonwulewura (Chief of Unity) of the Savannah Region.
The enskinment took place at the residence of the Overlord in Damongo in the Savannah Region, when the Vice President paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Gonjaland as part of his tour of the region.
The Vice President announced that he will renovate the Jakpa Palace which houses the Yagbonwura as a son and chief of the land in appreciation of all that the Yagbonwura has done for him.
“I want to give you a gift in celebration of my victory, and I know your palace awaits you and I want to tell you that as your son I am going to offer to renovate the Jakpa Palace for you because I am a son of Yagbon,” the Vice President stated.
He thanked the Yagbonwura and his elders for their continuous support and prayers.
Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I also thanked the Vice President, saying, “I am overwhelmed to hear that you have taken the renovation of the Jakpa Palace as your project, and I want to say God will bless and guide you”.
