Former First Lady, Theresa Kufuor who passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023as has left many Ghanaians, including the Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, heartbroken.
On Monday, October 2, the Vice President visited the Kufuor family to commiserate over the loss of Mrs Kufuor.
Dr Bawumia and his team arrived at the residence of former President John Agyekum Kufuor at around 3:45 pm.
There, they exchanged greetings with the family and other high profile figures, such as former New Juaben South MP, Mark Assibey Yeboah, Ambassador DK Osei, and Francis Poku, former National Security Minister.
After paying his respects, Dr Bawumia proceeded to sign the book of condolence.
Earlier, the Vice President expressed his sorrow over the passing of the former First Lady in a statement.
He described Mrs Kufuor as being a “major light” in his personal and national life, and extended his condolences to her widower, former President Kufuor.
The Kufuor family announced that Mrs Kufuor’s death occurred at her home in Peduase, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 87 years old.
The passing of Mrs Kufuor marks the end of an era in Ghana. She was known for her dedication to promoting child welfare and maternal health, as well as her work with the Kufuor Foundation, which aims to reduce poverty and improve nutrition in Ghana.
Mrs Kufuor’s legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. The Vice President and Ghanaians across the country join the Kufuor family in mourning her passing.
