Bawumia Thanks President Kufuor After Historic Flagbearership Race Victory

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the newly-elected flagbearer of the NPP, paid a visit to former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his Peduase residence on Monday.

This meeting took place after Dr. Bawumia’s impressive victory in the party’s primaries, where he secured 61.74% of the votes, surpassing three other contenders.

Per information, former President Kufuor was the first person Dr. Bawumia visited following his historic election as the 4th leader of the NPP. The visit was conducted in a very private setting, and former President Kufuor was reportedly delighted to welcome Dr. Bawumia, whom he had previously appointed as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana in 2006. Dr. Bawumia subsequently entered politics in 2008 as the running mate of candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Throughout the NPP primaries, Vice President Bawumia consistently expressed his gratitude towards former President Kufuor for giving him the opportunity to serve as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank.
