Strika when he was arrested
Actor, Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, popularly known as Strika, has reportedly been jailed over an alleged incident involving the removal of metal railings from the Kwashieman footbridge in Accra.
Strika, who gained international recognition for his role in the 2015 Netflix war drama ‘Beasts of No Nation’, was reportedly apprehended by residents in August 2026 after he was allegedly caught cutting metal railings from the footbridge.
The railings were reportedly being removed for sale as scrap.
A video purportedly showing the incident was circulated on social media on August 29, with footage showing residents confronting the actor at the footbridge.
Following the incident, Strika’s former caretaker, Official Gunshot GH, reportedly spoke to him by phone and later shared an update with his YouTube audience.
According to the account, Strika told his former caretaker that he had appeared before a court and had been sentenced to one year in prison.
He reportedly added that he had been informed he would be transferred to Nsawam Prison on Monday, September 14, to begin serving his sentence.
However, conflicting reports have emerged over the length of the alleged prison term. While Strika reportedly mentioned a one-year sentence, other reports circulating online claim that he was sentenced to seven years.
The discrepancy remains unclear. During the reported phone conversation, Strika also expressed remorse over some of his past actions and appealed to his former caretaker and his associates for assistance.
The development has sparked concern among social media users, with many expressing sympathy for the actor and questioning the circumstances surrounding his current situation.
