Beauty Queens Donate Books

Sabina Araba Offah poses with some beneficiaries

Contestants of Ghana Most Beautiful (Season IX) have distributed 30,000 Sasso-branded exercise books and pens to some selected schools in three regions of the country.

The donation was done in conjunction with Samara Company Limited, producers of Sasso insecticide spray and mosquito coil.

Sabina Araba Offah, Vera Esi Safowah and Fafa Bossman, representing the Western, Central and Volta regions respectively, received 10,000 exercise books, pens and other educational items each for distribution.

According to Sedrick Ologo, marketing manager of Samara Company, the distribution of the educational materials was in fulfilment of the company’s promise to assist each of the Ghana Most Beautiful contestants with the materials that will enhance their respective community-based projects.

The marketing manager stated that in 2015, the company in a similar vein distributed 100,000 exercise books to pupils in selected regions throughout the country.

The distribution process in each of the regions took the form of a colourful durbar of chiefs, queen mothers, school children, teachers and officials from the Department of Education amidst pageantry of traditional displays.

The Omanhene of Oguaa, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, lauded Sasso for the initiative to support the GMB contestants with the educational materials.

He expressed optimism that the items will motivate children to take their studies seriously, adding that there will be no more excuses for poor performance on the part of the pupils.

Nana Ama Amissah III, president of the Central Regional Queen Mothers’ Association, decried the high rate of pre-marital sex and abortions among teenagers in Mankessim.

She advised them to take their studies very seriously, underscoring that it is the only way to break the shackles of poverty in their lives.
