Bench Warrant For ‘Mahama Man’

An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the immediate arrest of Kwame Gyebi, who reportedly declared that President Mahama would drop dead during the 2016 Independence Day parade.

Gyebi, 33, has been charged with threat of death and offensive conduct.

The court, presided over by Aboagye Tandoh granted the accused bail in April, this year.

However, when the case was called yesterday, Gyebi was not in court, compelling the prosecution to request for a bench warrant which was granted by the court.

Hearing continues on October 28.

Gyebi is alleged to have made the comment at a drinking spot at Dzworwulu in Accra.

He allegedly stated categorically that President Mahama would die on Independence Day and asked people to mark his words.

The matter was subsequently reported to the Airport Police..
