Blay Will Attract Floating Voters – Kokofu

Freddie Blay

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has joined a large number of NPP gurus that have openly declared their support for Freddie Blay, who is contesting for the party’s national chairmanship position.

Declaring his support for the astute politician on Okay Fm, Mr Kokofu stated that Mr. Blay is a nice and tolerant person, whose leadership qualities can help the party to woo floating voters to retain power in the 2020 elections.

He, therefore, appealed to the NPP delegates from the 275 constituencies in the country to vote massively for Mr. Blay to become the next national chairman.

According to him, the two largest political parties in the country, the NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC), need floating voters to win elections in the country.

Kokofu, who is a lawyer, disclosed that any attempt by the party’s delegates to vote for different candidate would prove disastrous for the party.

“No political party in this country can win election only with the strength of its party supporters; the NPP can get 48 percent and the NDC can also get 44 percent if the two big political parties rely solely on their supporters during polls.

“This clearly shows that the two parties, the NDC and NPP, need the support of the smaller political parties and the floating voters in order to win elections, and we are lucky to have Blay who can easily attract the floating votes and help us to retain power in 2020,” he stated.

Mr. Kokofu recounted the sacrifices that Mr. Blay, who crossed carpet from CPP to the NPP, made towards the massive victory in 2016, saying “I am sure the CPP members voted for the NPP in 2016 because of Mr. Blay.

The ex-MP for Bantama also lauded Alhaji Short, who recently withdrew from the NPP national chairmanship race and declared support for Mr. Blay.

“Alhaji Short has taken a wise and bold decision that will go a long way to make victory 2020 easy for the NPP.”

Mr Kokofu said Mr Blay served the country well as the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament which helped to deepen its democracy.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka ‘Wontumi,’ the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP, recently threw his weight behind Mr. Blay.
