Bobrisky
Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been released from prison following his conviction for mutilating naira notes.
Bobrisky was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on four counts related to naira abuse and pleaded guilty before Justice A.O. Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The charges against Bobrisky stemmed from an incident where he was accused of mutilating naira notes, an offence which violates Nigerian currency regulations.
The EFCC had secured his conviction on April 5, leading to his incarceration. On Monday, August 5, 2024, Bobrisky was released from prison.
In a video circulating on social media, he was seen celebrating his release with friends while vibing to the song ‘Egwu’ by Mohbad and Chike.
His friends were heard congratulating him, saying, “We are out of prison. Congratulations, Bobrisky.”
Bobrisky’s release marks the end of a legal ordeal that attracted significant public attention.
As one of Nigeria’s most famous and controversial social media personalities, his case highlighted the country’s strict laws on currency handling and the consequences of violating them.
