Ofori Asare
National boxing side (Black Bombers) coach Ofori Asare has lauded the release of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) ratings from April 1 to June 30.
The national coaches’ instructor told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS that the ratings, the first in many years, will go a long way in developing the sport.
He said, “It is the first time in many years, and I must commend the GBA for the initiative. It helps in developing the sport in many ways; for instance, it helps matchmakers in fight arrangements and all that.”
The Super Fly Weight category (115) has Manyo Plange as champion pitting him against Albert Commey for a mandatory defence due June 30.
Commonwealth/ National Champion Bantamweight is vacant and has Prince Dzanie, Raymond Commey, Kamarudin Boyefio, Isaac Quaye , Gabriel Odoi Laryea, Umar Abdul Malik Issah , Oliagede Tunde,  Michael Nelson, Mohammed Fuseini Duke Micah and former Commonwealth Champion Joseph Agbeko as contenders.
The WBO Africa Champion Super Bantamweight is vacant with Theophilus Tetteh, Isaac Sackey, Michael Tagoe, Emmanuel Otoo, John Laryea, Felix Okine, Thompson Arap Moi, Sheriff Mohammed, Elvis Mensah, Isaac Dogboe – former WBO World Champion Wasihu Mohammed – WBO Global Champion will be battling for supremacy.
Also vacant is the featherweight division with Patrick Ayi, Eric Quarm, Alfred Lamptey,  Emmanuel Otoo, Holy Dorgbetor, George Krampah, Solomon Martey, Isaac Nettey, Success Tetteh, Ezekiel Annan, David Kotey , Emmanuel Sackey, Edward Kambasi , Yussif Issifu, Seidu Felix Williams – WBE/WBL Championship Raphael Mensah – former WBA African Champion  as contenders .
The Super Featherweight category has Felix Adjorm as champion, with Patrick Okine, Razak Nettey, Michael Ofei Doodo, Bright Ayala, Abraham Osei Bonsu, Emmanuel Quartey, Nathaniel Nukpe, Isaac Dorwuona, Charles Amartefio, Abdul Malik Jabir and Gabriel Coffie as contenders. Â
A mandatory defence is due on September 6 for Felix Ajorm – PBC/Commonwealth/ National Champion Maxwell Awuku- World WBO rated champion – Michael Ansah with Sheriff Quaye, Kpakpo Allotey Faisal Abubakari, Victor Kuwormu, Benjamin Lamptey, Ishmael Aryeetey, Samuel Akrogo, Michael Pappoe, Sheriff Seidu, Richman Ashley, Odartey Lamptey, Enoch Lamptey, John Quaye, Eric Ameshiokor, Ayittey Mettle, Moses Dodze and Azumah Mohammed as contenders.
Another mandatory defence is scheduled for June 26 for Richard Commey – former IBF World Champion Emmanuel Tagoe – WBO Global/ IBF Int’l Light Weight Champion George Ashie – interim WBO Africa Champion.
The country’s boxing governing body, GBA, also ranked the Super Lightweight, Welterweight,   Super Welterweight, Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight, Cruiserweight and other weight divisions.
