Bono Chiefs Plan Agenda For New Region

The Coalition of Chiefs for the creation of Bono East Region is busy planning a development agenda for the region.

This was revealed by the Executive Secretary of the Coalition – Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi – at the first coordinating committee meeting following the referendum at Kintampo. 

The Executive Secretary said there is going to be a forum for technocrats, representatives of various political parties, chiefs from various traditional councils and other major stakeholders, who will solicit for views from people in order to arrive at a common development agenda for the Bono East Region.

Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi, who doubles as the board chairman for the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), said being the future leaders, the youth should put more thoughts into this development agenda and suggest fresh ideas. He said the young people should use the media to express ideas about the development agenda for Bono East. 

He said the development agenda would mainly focus on general infrastructural development, educational development, health development, agricultural development, and more importantly human resource development in Bono East area. He urged all people within the area to remain united even as they express diverse views on where the regional capital should be sited. 

Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi said the development agenda should fit into the overall National Development Agenda by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC). This development agenda would therefore be done with ideas from all political parties, civil societies and several stakeholders within the Bono East area.Prof Ameyaw Akumf
