THE POLICE in the Ashanti Region have started investigations to unearth the circumstances that led to the death of a two-year-old boy in a Veronica bucket.
Kofi Boakye Acheampong was playing at home at Boadi, near Kumasi, but he was later found dead in a Veronica bucket.
The head of the young boy was in the blue bucket, which was filled with rainwater, as his legs faced upward when his mother found him.
Alarm was raised and the boy, who was motionless at the time, was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
A police report sighted by DAILY GUIDE said the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. on June 6, 2020.
It said Boakye Acheampong, 58, the grandfather of the boy, and one Fuseini Miriam, a security guard at Anninwaa Hospital, reported the case.
The complainants told the police that Grace Acheampong, 28, mother of the child, was preparing breakfast in the kitchen while the boy was playing in a yard within their residence.
The mother later saw her son’s head in the bucket, for which reason she quickly shouted for help.
The boy was then rushed to the Anninwaa Hospital at Emena for medical care, but he was declared dead on arrival by medical personnel.
According to the police report, there was no mark of violence on the body after inspection.
