Officials of Goldstar Air, Network for Assin Development and with some staff, officials of the school pose with bags of cement and blocks
GOLDSTAR AIR, a wholly-owned Ghanaian airline, in collaboration with Network for Assin Development has donated building materials to Assin Brofoyedru M/A Basic School in the Assin Central Municipality in the Central Region.
The donation forms part of the airline’s corporate social responsibility and the NGO’s support of helping the school to rehabilitate the JHS block which collapsed some time ago as a result of a heavy downpour.
The items were presented on behalf of both companies by the President for Network Development, Samuel Adobah, and received by the headmaster of the school, Frank Preprah.
The Assembly Member for Nyankomase/Brofoyedru, Bismark Obeng Donkoh, who graced the occasion on behalf of the chiefs and elders, thanked Goldstar Air and the NGO for their support.
Adobah noted that the government alone could not bear all the responsibilities facing the country; hence there is a need to join hands in helping to alleviate the burden, hence the collaboration.
Adobah expressed worry about the manner in which school children in rural areas are being deprived of quality education saying, “But at the end, they all sit in one examination hall to write the same examination with their colleagues in the urban areas.
“This made it difficult for rural students to compete with those in the cities due to their poor academic foundations.
“Children must not be denied of quality education if truly we want to create a better society for them.”
He also entreated parents and guardians to endeavour to take full responsibility for the needs of their wards since they are future leaders. He admonished the students not to engage in immoral acts and rather focus on their education.
